Game 1
Kilroys 15 FEI 15
Game 2
Kilroys 6 Bigalows 8
Kilroys show their fight as the squad regathered to hang with the two best teams in the league, FEI, a team that has blown out Kilroys the last two meetings scoring a combined 58 runs in 2 games, and Bigalows, a hard hitting fundamentally sound ball club.
The first game out of the two matched Kilroys with first place FEI. FEI came out of the closet as usually trying to place the ball to the outfield. They had mild success in the first two innings, but Kilroys outfield made some great adjustments after a visual scouting report of the lineup.
The zombie like bats of Kilroys that have struggle as of late finally came alive as the Kilroys team fought hard to stay in the game and the attitude of Kilroys and the fire that they possessed in the first half of the season returned just in time. Battling back to even the score.
Kilroys would have won the game in the 7th as the winning run was tagged out at home in a baserunning folly with time already expired. Kilroys spirits seemed to have been shattered right at home plate, but with another game at the helm Kilroys had limited time to regain their composure.
Five Minutes Later.....
Kilroys took the field tired, but not sleeping as the game against the Bigalows proved to be somewhat of a defensive battle against the mighty bats of Bigalows.
Kilroys again started off with the visiting team scoring first and it took all seven innings to record a combined 14runs. Bigalows mighty bats were moused by defense as again the defense made some adjustments and placed outfielders in the correct places to field the pop flies screaming off the bats of Bigalows.
Kilroys late rally wasn't enough as another baserunning error proved to be the finishing touch of a hard fought night. Kilroys was in position to beat the 2 best teams in the league with this makeup double header, but came up short both times. Kilroys record in now 4-7-1.
Kilroys has what it takes now and is playing the perfect team to get another win streak going. The Men of Valor. Game time is at 7:30 on June 28th.
Ask yourself one question. Who wants to be the hero? I do, I do!!!

MEN OF VALOR CONQUER KILROYS
Highland, IN
Kilroys 10 Men of Valor 12
Kilroys losing streak continues as the Men of Valor, a team that was shutout last game by a score of 19-0, squeak past the Lansing Pub putting their record at 4-6.
The Kilroys softball squad played well the first 10 minutes of the game. They got off to a solid start scoring 4 runs in the first and defensively stopping the Men of Valor from equaling up the score.
A couple miscues and a couple of walks opened the door for the opponents as Kilroys found themselves down without really realizing it. Playful attitudes and baserunning miscues (again) combined with the lack of defense and subpar pitching not to mention the stink coming off the bats translates into one big sourball of urine. The attitude of this team reminds me of a little girl yelling at her brother because SHE lost his ball. Players need to OWN UP!
The team wanted to hurry up and salvage any fight they had left.....with 2 minutes left in the game. Of course, everyone knows you need more time than that in softball.
Kilroys has lost 4 in row and to quote Coach Lou Brown, "This team has completely lost its focus!"
An interesting sidebar is the fact when controversy and injury plagued this team they win. When everything seems to be rainbows and leprecauns the team focus wonders to other things. What are those other things? As soon as Kilroys figures that out and gets their root shakras aligned they are going to be a tough team to beat.....and I will take that to the grave!
Kilroys has a double header Sat June 26. 1st game is at 6:00, the second at 7:00. Hopefully Kilroys attitude can buy them a win and a soda from some jerk. I am tired of writing this already......Chet, Frank needs a drink!

KNUCKLER KILLS KILROYS
Highland, IN
Coaches Corner 8 Kilroys 1
A well rested Kilroys took the field for an early bird matchup against Coaches Corner, but could not wake up the bats the entire game.
Coming off a bye week and a forfeit win, Kilroys had a tough time picking up the knuckler from the opposing pitcher. Kilroys was unable to get the ball out of the infield as every ball would just die coming off the barrell. Kilroys scrambled and strategized on how to figure out how to hit the no spinning pitch.
Phil Metzger came back to the dugout stating, "I'm trying to figure this pitcher out. He gives you one good pitch, you have to stay back on it since the second pitch you know is junk."
That strategy seemed to work for Coaches Corner as they threw 6 shutout innings. Kilroys lone run and rally came in the 7th inning with the time ticking down, but a baserunning error and a "no place like home" double heel slide by Rudy Monterubbio squashed any effort to comeback as the final out was recorded.
On a bright note, the defense and pitching was solid. Pitcher Matt Piccirilli went 7 strong innings and only averaged a little more than a run inning. The defense was back to it's rare form. There were some pretty good glove stops and hustle out there, but the team definately needs to hit the cages. One run in softball is not going to win you many games.
Stay tuned to KSRN for a more in depth look at tonight's game. With Chuck, Chet and Yours Truly at the helm.
Next Game is Fri June 18th, 8:30, against Kusiak Construction. Come out to the game and root for your team. This team needs support and if you want to get a picture with me and my Kilroys windbreaker...well I just might oblige.
