Coaches Corner 14 Kilroys 20
Kilroys won a chilly home opener against Coaches Corner and their record is now 2-1.
Two for Me. One for You. One for Me. Two for You.
That was the attitude of the chilly evening for the first 4 innings until Kilroys ended the politeness with 8 runs in the 5th, but Coaches Corner returned the favor in the top half of the 6th. Kilroys finally iced the victory in the final minutes of the game adding another 5 runs. The final score was 20-14.
Kilroys took the field for a late game against Coaches Corner with the tempature in the low 40's. But soon Kilroys heated things up with their bats. With no reserves, due to the abscense of Marc Piccirilli and Tony Rompca, every player in the lineup recorded multiple hits.
"We blasted a bunch of balls" exclaimed third baseman Anthony Spinosa who went 4-5.
Outfielder Phil Metzger is batting 1.000 for the season, infielder Scott Cowan is providing MVP caliber play both at the plate and on the field and Pitcher Matt Piccirilli recorded strikeouts in the last 2 games. All with the exception of two players are batting over .500 and the fielding percentage is well over .900.
"It's all coming together, but there is always room for improvement" stated player coach Aaron Gibson. "First baseman needs to learn how to back up the cutoff man for one."
The past two games Kilroys has proven that they will not quit. Kilroys competitors kept a close game each of the last two until the team at the end finally comes through with big hits and great glove work.
Outfielder Ray Gomez added, "We got the tools, we got the talent, it's Miller Time!"
As Coach Lou Brown says in Major League. "OK, guys. We've won two games in a row. If we win tonight, its called a winning streak. IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE.!"
Kilroys will try to echo the great Lou Brown in a 6:30 game against Kusiak Construction on May 3rd.
In Breaking News, second baseman Bob Kocher will be suspended 3-4 games for substance abuse. Details to follow.
